Early Years Provision
Early Years
The Octagon Music Hub supports early years music-making across Dorset and Somerset through a mix of direct delivery, workforce development and specialist resources. Funded activity includes music projects for young children in nurseries and community early years settings, as well as programmes that link families and early learning through shared musical experiences.
We also invest in training and professional development for early years practitioners, helping staff build confidence in using music, singing and creative play as part of everyday practice. This includes dedicated early years CPD and access to practical resources that support high-quality musical activity with babies and young children.
Alongside this, the Hub supports early years music through resource libraries and specialist partners, ensuring settings can access appropriate instruments and materials, and that children experience inclusive, engaging music-making from the earliest stages of their development.
