Purbeck Youth Music Dido & Aeneas Project
On March 4th next year, PYM will be mounting a concert at the Lighthouse, Poole with the renowned music ensemble Gabrieli consort and players. The ensemble with a full set of soloists will perform Purcell’s opera Dido & Aeneas.

They will be joined by young singers from The Purbeck School, The Thomas Hardy School in Dorchester, the St Mary’s Swanage Choristers and the Bournemouth Symphony Youth Chorus to perform the choruses. In between each scene, primary school singers from 10 primary schools across Purbeck will sing folk songs and sea shanties related to the story. The schools taking part are St Mary’s RC Swanage, Swanage Primary, St Mark’s CE Swanage, St George’s CE Langton Matravers, Corfe Castle CE, Stoborough, St Mary’s CE Wareham, SMSJ Wool RC and Lulworth/Winfrith. This will be an amazing opportunity for young people from across Purbeck to sing together on stage at the Lighthouse with professional musicians.
The concert starts at 6.00pm and will finish around 7.40pm .
Parents/carers are invited to attend the concert and may want to travel to the Lighthouse on the coaches which will be specially provided by PYM in partnership with the coach subsidiary of More Bus. Booking in advance is essential. Discounted concert seats or coach travel will not be available after 1st December.
Concert Tickets
Parents/carers can book a maximum of 3 tickets to watch the event at the Lighthouse, at the discounted rate of £2 per ticket. Tickets are not required for the participants.
Coach Tickets
Purbeck Youth Music will make all the arrangements to take children to the rehearsals at the Lighthouse before the concert and return them to their schools afterwards. There will be no charge to families for the performer’s transport costs.
Parents/carers booking concert tickets can request to have a return ticket for travel by coach to and from the concert for £2 per person. Coaches for parents/carers will leave the schools at around 5pm to arrive in good time. The precise timings from each school will be available in February.
Important: If you are making your own way to the Lighthouse and do NOT want your child/children to return to school on the bus after the performance you will need to register that intention when booking.
