Neurodiversity Celebration Week 2027

Celebrating neurodiversity through music

March 1, 2027 March 31, 2027

March 2027 – dates to be confirmed

Music is experienced, understood, created and expressed in many different ways. During Neurodiversity Celebration Week, Octagon Music Hub will be celebrating different ways of thinking, learning, communicating and making music, while sharing resources to help make music education more inclusive and accessible.

Celebrating neurodiversity through music

Neurodiversity Celebration Week is an opportunity to recognise and celebrate neurological differences, including autism, ADHD, dyslexia, dyspraxia and others. For schools and music educators, it’s also an opportunity to think about how we create musical environments in which different learners can participate, develop and thrive.

Throughout the week, we’ll be encouraging our music education community to explore:

  • inclusive approaches to teaching and music-making;
  • different ways for young people to participate, create and communicate through music;
  • adapting rehearsals, lessons and musical environments to reduce barriers;
  • recognising individual strengths and different approaches to learning;
  • resources and ideas for teachers and music practitioners; and
  • the experiences and achievements of neurodivergent musicians and music creators.

Music for everyone

Every child and young person should have the opportunity to experience the joy and benefits of making music. We’ll be sharing ideas and resources for schools, educators and music practitioners as we approach Neurodiversity Celebration Week 2027.

Save the date – March 2027. Confirmed dates and further resources will be added when available.
